The School O’Smelt™ troll is one of our top sellers. We developed this product in almost 10 years ago after extensive field testing along with computer modeling using fluid mechanics. When trolling in a large deep lake, the amount of water to cover is immense. Predatory fish including but not limited to salmon, lake trout, and rainbow trout, key in on large schools of bait including smelt, white perch, yellow perch and shiners.
The School O’Smelt™ attaches directly to the downrigger ball and the decreasing blade size over the 5 foot troll converts the sonic signature of the large ball into the trailing edge of a bait ball. The result is that skittish fish will move in gradually toward to the troll to investigate. It is the taking of these additional semi-active fish that makes for a very memorable trip.
